Proverbs 3:24

“The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing.” Psalm 41:3

There are times when the healthiest Christian is confined to bed by sickness. Yet even at such a time He who bore our sicknesses and infirmities is near. There is no physician like the Lord, no stimulant like His love, and no tonic like His promise. Let us therefore hug this assurance to our heart even if sickness or trouble is ours – “When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid.” Peter could sleep soundly and sweetly although in a prison cell guarded by soldiers. But to have sweet sleep it is imperative to have “sweet lives, sweet tempers, sweet meditations, and sweet love.”

“He giveth his beloved sleep.”
